About Us...
The New Forest Fruit Company Ltd is a major local employer with a staff at the peak of the season of some 300 people. Many of these are overseas employees who stay on the farm in the workers village situated at Penerely Farm. We have a full-time manager and manageress to run the village and provide pastoral care. The New Forest Fruit Company takes the welfare of its employees very seriously and we were pleased to be awarded Investor in People status in 2002. We continue to invest in our staff facilities and have an ongoing training programme.
We are keenly aware of our responsibilities to the environment, our local community and neighbours. During the past 5 years we have planted 4 acres of woodland, many hundreds of metres of replacement hedging and have constructed 2 reservoirs which will enhance biodiversity. We are members of the RSPB who recently conducted a successful bird survey on the farm. We are also a LEAF demonstration farm (a voluntary organisation that promotes sustainable farming), welcoming pre-arranged visits by interested groups who can see and ask at first hand about the workings and methods of a modern farm business.
To enhance our contacts with the community, we regularly host visits from school parties and have formed a relationship with a local residential centre for children.
As we approach our centenary we look back with pride at what we have achieved to date, but more importantly we look forward with optimism for the future. Listening to our customers, in harmony with the environment and with a strong dynamic team spirit, we believe that optimism to be justified. |
